I am a Heisenberg professor for German linguistics at the Ruhr-University of Bochum (RUB).

My research interests are in semantics, pragmatics, syntax and their interfaces. I am working on various expressions contributing non- truth-conditional meaning, including expressives, modal particles, sentence mood and verum focus.

More broadly, I am interested in multidimensional semantics, projective meaning, contextual influences on interpretation, the syntax-semantics interface and the question of where to draw the boundary between semantics and pragmatics and how to differentiate between various kinds of meaning.
